Helen

Founder / Nutrition and Raw Expert

I've always loved animals. Pocket money was spent on wildlife books; days out with my parents were spent asking for a new pet (I never did get that chipmunk or chinchilla I desperately wanted). I did, however, grow up with cats, dogs, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits and mice. Lucy, my cat, and Suzi, the family dog, were my best friends as a child.

For some reason, I didn’t work with animals initially. I did a degree in psychology and then worked as a teacher.

Needing to get out of that profession, in 2015 I started a dog walking company, Tails n Whiskers. Wanting to develop my understanding of dogs, I completed courses and attended seminars on canine behaviour. I even started a masters in Animal Welfare and Behaviour (I stopped when I had a chance to open a shop).
Tails N Whiskers is still going strong but is now run by my husband (Tilly’s delivery driver!).

When Tilly, my collie, started having seizures in 2019, my focus switched from dog behaviour to dog nutrition. Seeing the benefits of a raw, chemical free lifestyle in my own dogs, I wanted to give other dogs these opportunities and Tilly’s Treat Cupboard was born.

I’ve since become certified in raw dog food nutrition, certified in pet nutrition, have a diploma
in canine nutrigenomics and I am currently studying a course in canine nutrition. I’m quite obsessed with reading research papers, articles and books on dog nutrition.

I will continue to learn everything I can to help everyone’s dogs lead a natural, healthy life.

Michelle

Co-owner / Massage Therapy Student

I have loved animals my whole life. As I child I always wanted a multitude of pets. However my parents are not ‘pet people’
They made me prove I could care for a pet before I could have one.

My first love was Starsky my black rabbit. At a young age I learned that a hutch is not enough and that’s where my love for enrichment in animal care began.

I have had many pets since including dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, bearded dragons, fish and axolotl.

For a long time I worked in Care (human) and then an Animal Rescue. Initially on Rabbit fostering, home checks, and bonding rabbit families together. I then moved to the kennels and cattery. When Covid hit I was made redundant. At that very same time Helen opened a little pet shop. A mutual friend introduced us (Jo from Scampers). I had the weirdest interview of my life:

‘You want the job? Start tomorrow?………..ok!!!!

I am now also obsessed with dog nutrition and natural health for pets in general.

And the rest as they say is history...

Lewis

Marketing Director / Store Manager

I have loved animals since I can remember, my mum always says her earliest memories of me were often finding me downstairs curled up in the dog bed with our Golden Retriever, Casey

My grandma used to take us to visit the horses down the road every Saturday and that’s where my love of horses grew.

I went on to own my own horses all my life and riding was an escape for me it was such a huge passion.

I then went on to work in the NHS for years and decided it wasn’t my passion, so I moved on and became an equine riding instructor and it was the best thing I ever did watching my student’s grow, lean and succeed the goals they set was incredible.

I currently have two gorgeous dogs Callie (Jack Russell cross Dachshund) and Miso (Jack Russell) and two adorable little guinea pigs, Vino and Blanco (shows my love for wine).

I then had to become an adult (unfortunately) and needed to get more stable job, so I became part of the Tilly’s team and again one of the best things I have ever done! I love everything Tilly’s stands for and i have never loved a job and a group of people more!

Aaron

Cold Store Operative / Sales Assistant

I have loved animals my whole life. I've had many pets from rabbits to dogs and even hedgehogs.

I get very bad anxiety and get very overwhelmed by everything. My dogs Ollie and Luna have helped through it over the past couple of years, especially during covid and lockdown.

I did two years of animal management at college which is how I ended up working at Tilly’s for the last two and a bit years and wouldn't want to work anywhere else. I'm no expert in dog nutrition or dog health but I can try and help where I can.

I believe every animal should live their best lives on amazing food with a great family and not on some awful kibble from a big supermarket who doesn't care about dog nutrition or with a family who doesn't care about them at all.

I also what to thank Helen and Michelle for giving me a job here and being great bosses/friends.

Annette

Sales Assistant

After over 25 years working with teenagers, I decided I wanted a change and less stress in my life. I had shopped at Tilly’s for many years and know that their values and passion for animals matched mine. When an opportunity came along for me to work with them, I jumped at it. I love meeting all the dogs and owners that come into the shop and helping them get the best for their pet.

As well as working for Tilly’s I am also building my Art business. I love drawing animals and pets. I also have Chester and Eddie, my two Vizslas, who keep me busy, and I love the treat I bring home now.

David

Delivery Driver

Hi I'm Dave, a professional Dog Walker who loves his job. After I’ve done my dog walks, I miraculously turn into Tilly’s deliver driver!

After seeing the benefits from our own dogs being fed raw and having no chemicals, I volunteered to be Tilly’s driver to support the shop and help it succeed so more dogs can be helped.
